Features of the PY TravelYak SPLIT Sea Kayak

SPLIT The Travel Yak Split splits into three nesting parts. Each part has its own bulkhead so each is a sealed unit, contributing to the inherent safety of the craft. When separated each part nests into each other for packing and

easy storage, portaging and transporting.

LOCKS It has six or eight stainless steel Throwover or Cantilever Locks with adjustable eye bolts which lock onto secure catches which are tensioned by levers providing mechanical advantage when locking.

SELF-DRAINING COCKPIT The deep and comfortable sit-on cockpit has an optional scupper fitted to drain it whilst paddling. It may be closed when not needed. The cockpit also has a convenient cup-holder indent fitted.

ADJUSTABLE PEDALS The craft is fitted with PaddeYak’s® adjustable hinged foot pedals.

RETACTIBLE RUDDER It also features PaddleYak’s® sturdy stainless steel rudder and “Twist-and-Lock“ locking system.

SCREW HATCHES The craft comes fitted with one small and one large screw hatch with secure watertight O-rings. These allow access to the stern and bow sections for storage.

BUNGEE The Stern section has a large indent with a bungee fitted for carrying dry bags and other equipment topsides. It also has indents for two optional fishrodholders. 

DRAIN BUNGS There are three drain bungs, one for each section. These are breathable which prevents the sections from expanding in hot weather in direct sunshine

HANDLES The craft is fitted with two sturdy web handles, as well as four grip indents to facilitate carrying and handling the complete assembled craft or the separate sections.

TOWROPE A plaited, extendable towrope up-front on the stern provides for a convenient rope instantly available for dragging, pulling, towing or anchoring.

OTHER OPTIONS Being virtually custom-built in different laminates, it’s possible to add or make changes to the basic craft as may be required by some. PaddleYak® Kayaks previously introduced the award-winning hybrid,

combination sit-in/sit-on range of craft and may, on special request, even convert the SIT-ON SPLIT into a SIT-ON/SIT-IN Hybrid kayak with a coaming and dedicated sprayskirt.

A skeg box to supplement the rudder system can also be supplied and fitted.
